Rotarians are people of action, even during a pandemic. Earlier this week, members of the Rotary Club of Darien and community volunteers took action to feed kids in our community. As part of the Dr. Bob Carlo Food For Kids program, the club purchased food for 165 kids in the Darien community.
After they purchased the food, the Rotarians and community volunteers packed the food into 990 individual bags (165 kids times 6 weekends) and gave it to area schools for distribution. The schools will provide these bags to the parents when they come in to pick up lunch for their students.
The packing event, attended by around 30 volunteers and Rotarians, was held in the parking lot at Lace School in a socially-distant manner. The club’s next packing night will be November 11 and it will also be at Lace School. Please visit the club website at www.darienrotaryclub.org for more details.
