See Video Of Attempted Car Burglary In Darien
A man with a face mask checks to see whether a car is unlocked in a Darien neighborhood.
DARIEN, IL — If you needed a reminder to lock your car doors, a seven-second Ring video in Darien may serve as one.
Over the weekend, the video surfaced showing man wearing a face mask running toward a car parked in a driveway. He finds it is locked, then runs back into the passenger seat of a waiting white car. According to a police report, the attempted burglary was about 11 p.m. Friday in the 8900 block of Middleton Road. Police were alerted shortly after midnight.
In suburbs such as Darien, criminals target unlocked cars. Sometimes they find keys inside, allowing them to easily steal them. It's rare that car burglars physically break into cars.
