Eight more car burglaries are reported, police said. One car is stolen.
DARIEN, IL — Another spate of car burglaries was reported, with many of vehicles unlocked. Here is the latest information from the Darien police blotter:
- An unlocked car was stolen shortly before 3 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 100 block of Timber Lane. Two suspects were seen on video entering the car, which was parked in the driveway, and then driving it away. It was later recovered in Harvey.
- A car was burglarized at 5 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 100 block of Elm Street. Video shows three suspects entering the car and then leaving in a white SUV. The victim reported two rings valued a $13,000 were stolen.
- An unlocked car was burglarized between 9 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8:45 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 7200 block of Leonard Drive. Nothing appeared to be missing.
- A car was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and 9:15 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 900 block of Tamarack Drive. The estimated loss is unknown.
- A car was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and 4:15 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 1000 block of Willow Lane. Nothing appeared to be missing. While investigating this burglary, an officer was told that a neighbor's car was burglarized. A garage door opener was taken. The estimated loss was unknown.
- An unlocked car was burglarized about 3:30 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 7700 block of Hayenga Lane. The sound of the garage door opening alerted the homeowner to the burglary. The homeowner said two suspects were seen with a garage door opener. Nothing appeared to be missing.
- An unlocked car was burglarized about 4:15 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 300 block of Janet Avenue. The crime was reported Feb. 10. Home video shows a suspect exited a white SUV and entered the victim's car, which was parked in the driveway. Nothing appeared to be missing.
- An unlocked car was burglarized between midnight and 8 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 300 block of Janet Avenue. A book and backpack were removed.
- A retail theft occurred about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Walmart, 2189 75th St. The store's video shows a suspect took a Ryzen computer off a shelf, place it into a cart and then left the store. A security strap was found after the theft. The computer was valued at $629.
- A Darien police officer spotted a Lincoln matching the description of one stolen in Downers Grove about 4 a.m. Feb. 10. The officer saw the stolen Lincoln parked next to another car in front of Brookhaven Marketplace, and the drivers appeared to be speaking to each other. The cars then sped off heading west on Plainfield Road. The Lincoln crashed into two parked cars on Ashley Court, and the second car stopped. Inside the second car were credit cards that matched the names of victims of a car burglary earlier that night in Darien. The two female suspects were apprehended and turned over to the Downers Grove Police Department.
