Shots Fired in Darien: Police

Woman runs away from house while man stays inside, police say. Officers later talk him out of house.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police officers responded to a call of possible shots fired in the 8000 block of Barrymore Drive about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a Darien news release. When officers arrived, a woman ran away from the house while a man was still inside, police said.

The woman said she heard two gunshots and believed her husband had fired two rounds into a pond near the house, police said. Officers were told the man was still inside and possibly armed, the release said. The man was eventually talked into leaving the house and taken into custody without any problems, police said. Authorities did not release the man's name.

Darien detectives obtained a search warrant and removed about 30 guns from the house and an unspecified amount of ammunition. Felony and federal charges have been not been approved as of yet and the man was released without criminal charges, the release said. The investigation continues, and no additional information can be released at this time, police said.
