Skateboarding Thief, Damage: Darien Police

Man stole liquor from Walgreens, then went skating away, report says.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police dealt with retail thefts, hit-and-runs and damage to property in the last week. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

  • A man removed a six-pack of beer and a bottle of wine from the shelf and left without paying shortly before noon May 7 at Walgreens, 8300 Lemont Road. The suspect was last seen leaving the parking lot on a skateboard. The loss was $19.98.
  • A hit-and-run took place shortly before 9 a.m. May 7 at Circle K Shell, 8975 Lemont Road. The victim said the car was struck on the rear driver's side bumper by the other's bumper. The other car was last seen headed west on 87th Street crossing over Interstate 355.
  • A front storm window was shattered overnight May 7 at a house in the 1500 block of 71st Street. The loss is estimated at $300.
  • Someone attempted to pry open a car door between 4 p.m. May 8 and 5:30 p.m. May 9 in the 8300 block of Captons Lane.
  • A victim informed police the victim's vehicle was struck by a white SUV on May 10 in the 7400 block of Clarendon Hills Road. The suspect's car was last seen on 75th Street and Route 83.
