Sleeping DUI Suspect, Thefts: Darien Cops

Darien police handled cases involving theft, damage and warrants.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

DUI

  • Donte Lamar Tolefree, 41, of Romeoville, was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday on a charge of DUI. He was found sleeping behind the wheel. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Thefts

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a work van between 9 p.m. May 31 and 9:30 a.m. June 1 at Burrito Paradise, 7516 Cass Ave. The loss was estimated at $100.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between 10 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Extended Stay America hotel, 2345 Sokol Court. The loss was estimated at $300.

Damage

  • A brick and stone mailbox was damaged between 7 a.m. April 24 and 10 p.m. May 25 in the 1600 block of Fox Hill Place. It was listed as a hit-and-run. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

  • David Herrera, 18, of Chicago, was arrested about 8:30 a.m. on a Livingston County warrant charging failure to appear in court. He was also cited on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. He was clocked speeding 44 mph in a 25 mph zone on Oldfield Road. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail to await being picked up by the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
  • Philip Abobah, 41, of Joliet, was arrested about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 8800 block of Lemont Road on two DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrants and one from the Will County Sheriff's Office. They were all for failing to appear in court.

Driving violations

  • Ruta Ptasinskaite, 36, of Willowbrook, was cited about 4 p.m. Friday on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of license plates and failure to notify the Secretary of State's Office of an address change. Ptasinskaite was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Mario Daniel, 43, of Woodridge, was cited about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of 75th Street on charges of driving with a revoked license and failure to signal while changing lanes. He was released on bond.
  • Cory Evans, 30, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 3:30 p.m. June 1 at 75th Street and Cass Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was involved in a crash. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
