The exSTEMaganza will take place Oct. 13 at Hinsdale South High School.

DARIEN, IL — Children in grades 5-7 who are interested in practicing their STEM skills can participate in exSTEMaganza, which is sponsored by DuPage Regional Office of Education, Gower School District 62 and Indian Prairie Public Library.
According to the event website, this special event is a STEM exploration activity for kids in grades 5-7 with an adult. Participants will work in teams to complete a challenge – to build a reaction contraption – then teams will combine contraptions to create a larger scale Rube Goldberg-like phenomenon. The event will provide opportunity to learn the engineering design process, develop team-building experience, and practice STEM skills.
exSTEMaganza will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 in the Hinsdale South High School Auditorium, 7401 Clarendon Hills Road in Darien. However, applications are due by Oct. 2, so start thinking of ideas now. Interested participants must fill out an application, which can be downloaded at http://ippl.info/calendar-even.... Completed applications must be returned to the Kids & Teens Department at the Indian Prairie Public Library or emailed to nataliew@ippl.info by Oct. 2. Space is limited, so not all applicants will be selected to participate.
