Stolen Car, Repeat Charges: Darien Cops
An unlocked car was stolen, but it was later found on the expressway, police say.
DARIEN, IL — Darien police released their latest blotter Thursday. Here is information from the reports:
Stolen car
- An unlocked car in the 6700 block of Richmond Avenue was stolen between 7 p.m. July 6 and 4 p.m. July 7. State police found the car on Interstate 294.

- Xavier Lopez, 21, of Brookfield, was cited about 11 a.m. Friday on Cass Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, no registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released and given a date to appear in court. About 2 p.m. the next day, video footage showed that Lopez drove to the police station. He was again cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
DUI
- Ramon Gonzales, 52, of Chicago, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. July 8 on charges of DUI and violating Scott's Law, which requires drivers to move over a lane if possible when a police car is on the side of the road with its emergency lights activated. The officer's lights were activated when the officer heard the suspect screeching his tires from behind the squad car.

- Robert Longfield, 52, of Darien, was cited about 8:30 a.m. July 6 on Plainfield Road on charges of driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and using a phone while driving. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Carlos Santana, 27, of Glendale Heights, was cited about 7 p.m. July 6 on Oldfield Road on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. He was speeding 48 mph in a 25 mph zone. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- James George, 50, of Chicago, was arrested July 6 near 83rd Street and Lemont Road on a McHenry County warrant and on charges of driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, having an open container of alcohol in a car and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Brittany Hughes, 29, of Bellwood, was cited about 12:30 a.m. July 7 on Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and expired registration. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
