Stolen Car, Store Assault: Darien Police

DARIEN, IL — In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving a car theft, a store assault, a stolen catalytic converter, retail theft and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Car theft

• A resident in the 500 block of Chestnut Lane woke up about 3 a.m. Thursday to a car alarm. The resident then saw the family's car being driven away. The loss was estimated at $28,000.

Store assault

• A man and a woman were seen under-scanning merchandise about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St. When a loss prevention employee tried to stop them, a man pushed the employee and drove away in a silver vehicle. The woman, Shakara Bolden, 29, of Bolingbrook, was cited on a charge of retail theft. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Stolen converter

• A catalytic converter was removed from a car between 4 p.m. Dec. 10 and 8 a.m. Dec. 13 in the 8400 block of Wilmette Avenue. The estimated loss was $400.

Retail theft

• Tamika Davis, 35, of Oakbrook Terrace, was cited about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, Davis was seen failing to scan items at the self-checkout aisle and then attempting to leave the store. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
• Jacquelyn Childers, 30, of Woodridge, was cited about 9 a.m. Dec. 15 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, she was seen failing to scan items and using a separate tag to under-ring merchandise at the self-checkout aisle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Driving violations

• Maya O'Neal, 22, of Woodridge, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 13 on Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving with one headlight and driving with expired plates. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
