Stolen Purse, Illegal Dumping: Darien Cops

A Walmart customer believes someone stole purse while bags were being put into car, report says.

DARIEN, IL — The Darien Police Department released its latest weekly blotter. Here is information from the reports:

  • A customer at Walmart, 2189 75th St., said she realized that she forgot her purse after leaving the parking lot about noon April 22. She returned to the store, but was unable to find the purse. The victim said the purse was possibly taken while the bags were being put in the car. The loss was estimated at $1,115.
  • Police received a report of illegal dumping about 2:30 p.m. April 23 in the 1000 block of Ripple Ridge Road. A citizen told police that unknown suspects left broken exercise equipment on the parkway. Darien public works was notified and removed the equipment.
  • An employee at CVS, 8325 Lemont Road, told police that a man tried to leave the store with four bottles of alcohol without paying for them about 12:30 p.m. April 23. They were later recovered. The suspect was last seen in a silver SUV.
  • Dean Proper, 53, of Rockford, was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in court in DuPage County. He was released and given dates to appear in court.
  • A hit-and-run accident took place at 5:15 p.m. April 27 at Wendy's, 7100 Route 83. A U-Haul struck the overhang in the drive-thru. The suspect drove away. The loss is unknown at this time.
  • A woman was seen in the parking lot of Home Depot, 2101 75th St., going through an unlocked car about 11:30 a.m. April 27. The woman was last seen in a red GMC going east on 75th Street. A change purse with about $25 was taken.
