Stolen Purse, Thrown Eggs: Darien Police

Customer's purse is taken from cart, report says.

DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police have handled calls about a stolen car, stolen purse and thrown eggs. Here is information from the reports:

  • Officers were called to Mystic Trace Drive and North Frontage Road to help the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department with a recovered stolen car. The stolen car was found by Darien officers in the WoodSpring Suites parking lot, 951 N. Frontage Road. The car was unoccupied and left running. No other information was available.
  • A customer at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave., told police someone stole her purse from a cart between 12:45 p.m. and 1:03 p.m. Aug. 13. A review of store video shows a woman removing the purse and leaving through the store's south exit. The woman left in a red GMC vehicle.
  • Someone threw eggs at a car between 1 a.m. and noon Aug. 14 in the 7000 block of Richmond Avenue. It caused damage to the paint.
  • Shari Slipke, 35, of Downers Grove, was cited about 3 a.m. Aug. 16 at 75th Street and Cass Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
