Teen Pursued By Man In Westmont Park: Police

WESTMONT, IL — A man followed a teenager and then grabbed the teen's backpack about 9 p.m. Monday at Westmont's Ty Warner Park, according to Westmont police. The youth was able to break free and run away from the park, police said.

The suspect was described as white, in his mid-20s to mid-30s, about 6 feet tall, having an average build and dark hair, and wearing light colored pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dirty gym shoes. Police said they checked the area, but could find no one who matched the suspect's description.

The incident remains under investigation, and the police department is patrolling the area more, according to a news release. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Westmont police at 630-981-6310 or email chiefofpolice@westmont.il.gov.
