Theft Suspects Lead Darien Cops On Chase: Report

A man was seen stealing a catalytic converter in the middle of the day, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Theft of converter

  • Police received a report about the theft of a catalytic converter from a car about 11 a.m. June 7 in the 8100 block of Cass Avenue. An officer saw a man removing the converter from a car in a parking lot. The suspect then got into a 2012 Nissan, and the driver sped south on Cass. The vehicle, with two men, was last seen heading south on Interstate 55. The converter was valued at $750.

  • Tyrale Johnson, 26, of Plainfield, was cited about 6:30 p.m. June 6 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, he was seen scanning a pack of gum multiple times in front of other items' bar codes. He did not scan other items. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Serge Djondo, 26, town unavailable, was cited at 8:30 p.m. June 6 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft and obstructing a police officer. According to a police report, employees watched him as he put items in a backpack and then left the store. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Driving violations

  • Christopher Houston, 33, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 1 a.m. June 8 in the 8800 block of Lemont Road on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Teerapath Plangklang, 18, of Westmont, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Friday at 75th Street and Fairview Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding and driving with a suspended registration. According to a police report, he was speeding 61 mph in a 45 mph zone on 75th Street. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Joshua Tate, 22, of Cicero, was arrested shortly after midnight Friday in the 7300 block of Cass Avenue on a warrant charging failure to appear in court and charges of driving with a suspended license and driving without a license plate light. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
