These Hinsdale South Studios Ready For Students
Student group raises thousands to refurbish studios on campus.

DARIEN, IL — Students at Hinsdale South High School now have opportunities to podcast and record music on campus.
This is thanks to a fundraising effort by the Hinsdale South Recording and Broadcasting Club. It was formed a year ago by then-juniors Henry Sullivan and Matthew Sagat.
The club has refurbished separate studios for podcasting and recording.

It raised $4,700 through a GoFundMe page, $3,600 from the school's booster club and $750 from the local Rotary Club.
The South club has "broadcasting" in its name, but Sullivan told Patch the school district decided against having an FCC license for South.

South has been without a radio station for a couple of years. Hinsdale Central still has one.
"A lot of students weren't interested in radio anyway," Sullivan said. "They were interested in podcasting and recording."
The club is still looking to raise more money for a few more items — a guitar, bass and more headphones. The group has created a Google form for prospective donors to give their information for future fundraising opportunities.
Although Sullivan and Sagat are seniors, Sullivan said he believes the club will continue.
"The majority of our club is underclassmen. There are a lot of kids to keep it moving," he said. "On eighth grade night, we had a ton of incoming freshmen interested in it."
The studios are free for all students. Many are already using them, with a few new podcast episodes each day.
Sullivan said he uses both studios.
He suggested people check out Hinsdale South's Twitch page and student Andrea Crisp's "12 Notes" podcast.
