Trump, American Flags In Darien Targeted: Cops

Flags are being stolen and damaged over the last few months in Darien.

DARIEN, IL — A number of American flags were ripped overnight Nov. 2, Darien police said. The crimes apparently happened in the hours before the polls opened.

On Nov. 3, Darien police received a report of an American flag ripped in the 8000 block of Sawmill Creek Drive. They found several others with similar damage.

According to police reports, flags have been the target over the last few months in Darien.

In mid-October, a flag for Trump's re-election campaign was removed and a flagpole was damaged in a Darien resident's yard in the 1400 block of 77th Street, according to a police report.

Another instance was a day later. An American flag was removed from a pole attached to a garage in the 800 block of 71st Street.

In late August, a "Back the Blue" flag and a blue line, pro-police flag were stolen from a house in the 7100 block of Walden Lane, according to a police report. The flag sign was removed from a front window, and the flag was stolen from near a tree, police said.

In mid-August, an American flag was removed from a front porch in the 7500 block of Country Lane Road and then was burned. A few days earlier, a flag was removed from a flagpole in the 7100 block of Summit Road.
