Update On Darien Missing Man Investigation

Police described what steps they have taken to find the man.

DARIEN, IL – The whereabouts of a Darien man who went missing more than a month ago remain unknown, police said Wednesday.

Scott D. Svencner, 60 of the 1000 block of 79th Street in Darien, was last seen about 5:30 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving, police said. He was said to be walking away from his house.

In an email to Patch on Wednesday, Darien Police Chief Greg Thomas said officers do not believe Svencner has access to bank accounts or credit cards.

"We’ve checked with jails, morgues, hospitals, etc. No John Does," Thomas said in the email.

Svencner is described as white, 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds. It is unknown what he was wearing when he left, police said.

Svencner did not take his phone or any personal property, police said.

Anyone who sees Svencner is asked to call 911. Those with information about Svencner are requested to call the police department's tip line at 630-353-8150. The line is not monitored around the clock.

Svencner is a registered sex offender.
