VFW Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay Annual Competition

Theme: "What Make America Great"

Students in grades 9-12 can enhance their writing and presentation skills and compete for awards and scholarships by submitting their Voice of Democracy (VOD) entry.
Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on a patriotic theme for submittal to the VFW Darien Post by the Oct. 31 deadline. This year the theme is "What Makes America Great?" Awards are provided at Post, District, State and National levels. Department (State) first-place winner receives an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., Feb. 29 – Mar. 4, 2020, to tour the city, be honored by the VFW and its Auxiliary and receive their portion of $154,000 in national awards, the top scholarship being $30,000.
