1. Mid-Illinois Labor Council to Host Decatur Labor Day Parade and Picnic (decaturtribune.com) — Decatur's annual Labor Day Parade steps off downtown at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, followed by a $25 "Picnic in the Park" at Fairview Park that's free for union members. The Mid-Illinois Labor Council will also award $18,000 in We Are One Community grants to 22 Decatur-area charities, highlighting how local unions support residents year-round.
2. Salvation Army Asks Community to Support "Stuff the Bus" School Supply Drive (newschannel20.com) — Decatur families can help local students gear up for school this Friday, Aug. 21, by donating supplies at both Walmart locations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Salvation Army's Stuff the Bus drive collects backpacks, notebooks, basics like pencils and glue, or cash in Red Kettles so Decatur-area kids start the year prepared.
3. Decatur man gets probation for attacking two people with knife (wcia.com) — A Decatur man has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in an April knife attack involving two people. Court records and Decatur Police reports detail how a dispute escalated from shoving to slashing, with a judge accepting a negotiated plea and ordering no contact with the victims.
4. 2025FC102, NonCook Sale Notice (legals) (herald-review.com) — A Decatur home at 55 Corman Court is scheduled for a foreclosure auction on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 8:30 a.m. at the Macon County Courthouse.
