1-Car Riverwoods Crash Causes Power Outage
One person was injured and electricity was disrupted when a car overturned and crashed into a power line on Saunders Road Friday morning.

RIVERWOODS, IL — A car flipped over and hit a power line in Riverwoods Friday morning, leaving some area homes without power, police said. Around 6:15 a.m., a driver heading southbound on Saunders Road lost control of a car, which ran off the road, overturned and crashed through a road sign into utility pole across the street from the Riverwoods Police Department.
One person was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Riverwoods Police Chief Bruce Dayno. Images from the scene showed the vehicle lying on its roof beside a power line that had been split in half.
Saunders Road had to be closed until ComEd arrived to shut off electricity to the damaged line, but it has since been reopened. Dayno said some homes in the area will remain without power until ComEd makes repairs.
