2 Deerfield Area Students Named National Scholarship Winners

DEERFIELD, IL — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named the final group of winners of 2024 National Merit Scholars Monday, including two students from the Deerfield area. These scholar designees join more than 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June, according to the Evanston-based organization.

The winners from the Deerfield area include:

• Jake S. Meltzer, Deerfield High School (Deerfield), National Merit Case Western Reserve University Scholarship. Probable career field: Astronomy
• Leon Rapoport, of Riverwoods, homeschool/online school, National Merit Hillsdale College Scholarship. Probable career field: Law
