2 Deerfield Elementary Schools Named to Magazine's Best of List in Lake County

Walden and Kipling elementary schools earned top 10 spots on Chicago magazine's 2016 ranking.

DEERFIELD, IL — Two Deerfield School District 109 schools were named to Chicago magazine's list of the best elementary schools in Lake County, which was released this week.

The schools that were ranked included Walden Elementary School at No. 5, followed by Kipling Elementary School at No. 6. In Lake County, Half Day School in Lincolnshire earned the No. 1 ranking among elementaries, and Libertyville High School took the stop spot in its category.

Teaming up with nonprofit group RTI International, Chicago magazine created the criteria for its best of lists—divided by county and school level—based on test scores, attendance, spending per student, graduation rates (for the high schools) and other data taken from the Illinois Board of Education. The publication hasn't done this type of school analysis and ranking since 2012.
