Runners: Start your July 4 with an early morning run! The Rotary Club of Deerfield is holding it’s 48th annual 10k race/5k run and walk on July 4 in conjunction with the Village of Deerfield Family Days Celebration. The 2-loop certified 10k course is 6.2 miles through tree-lined residential streets of Deerfield. New to the race this year is the competitive 5k run. Medals will be awarded for overall and age group winners of the 10 k run, and to overall winners of the 5k run. The race is an official 2014 CARA-certified race, and runners and walkers will be electronically timed.
Safety and extras: There will be 3 water stations along the course, and emergency assistance will be available from the Deerfield Fire and Police Departments. The first 200 racers will receive T-shirts, and goody bags will be available with items from Family Days sponsors. Sunset Foods will as usual provide fruit, juice, and water for racers.
