6 Illinois Companies Among 2021’s Best Workplaces For Parents
Great Place To Work teamed up with Maven to determine which employers set the bar for attracting working parents.

ILLINOIS — Millions of U.S. workers left their jobs in recent months, burned out and in search of better opportunities. In many cases, these workers were parents. A disproportionate number were young and women of color.
Now, these parents are looking for their next job. Some are considering returning to work after leaving during the pandemic. As a result, pressure on Illinois companies to appeal to these parents is more intense than ever.
Luckily, several companies in Illinois already are setting a high bar when it comes to supporting workers with children.

"Very good benefits for me and my family, and the opportunity to travel and relocate anywhere in the world," parents said about Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Also included on this year’s list were RSM US LLP in Chicago, which came in at No. 26; Sprout Social in Chicago, which came in at No. 46; Horizon Therapeutics in Deerfield, which came in at No. 71; West Monroe Partners in Chicago and Crowe in Chicago, ranked No. 74 and No. 96, respectively.
According to the report accompanying this year’s list, nearly 11.5 million people quit their jobs in April, May and June combined. After surveying workers, Great Place To Work learned that almost 1 in 4 working parents were suffering from burnout.
The report also found that companies offering “special and unique” benefits are two times more likely to retain employees with children.
Ultimately, researchers found the “Great Resignation” is, at its core, a “crisis of recognition.” In other words, working parents who feel empowered and included in a company's culture are far more likely to stay with their employer.
In the end, companies that think about an employee’s holistic experience — the challenges at home, the opportunities at work — will fare far better in the post-pandemic economy, the report notes.
