Lake County Sheriff's Deputies Issue 36 Citations During July 4 Campaign

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Lake County sheriff's deputies made 39 traffic stops and issued dozens of citations during a Fourth of July traffic safety campaign aimed at impaired driving and seat belt enforcement.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office participated in the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns from June 19 through July 6.

During the campaign, deputies logged 23 hours of dedicated enforcement time, according to the sheriff’s office.

The enforcement effort resulted in:

Law enforcement agencies across Illinois participated in the statewide effort to remove drunk and drugged drivers from roads and encourage seat belt use.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office joined more than 200 state and local law enforcement agencies for the campaign, which combined high-visibility enforcement with outreach efforts and a media campaign.

The Independence Day enforcement campaign is funded with federal highway safety dollars administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The effort is supported by Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

The campaign is also reinforced by IDOT's "It's Not a Game" media campaign, which shares stories of Illinois residents killed in crashes.
