DEERFIELD, IL — Residents looking to clear out closets, garages and home offices will have a chance to recycle and donate a wide range of household items later this month.
The Reuse & Recycle Rally will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at North Shore Unitarian Church, 2100 Half Day Road.
The free drive-through event is being held in partnership with the villages of Deerfield and Bannockburn and the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County.
Volunteers will unload accepted items from vehicles, allowing participants to drive through without leaving their cars.
Organizers will collect items for reuse, recycling and donation, including:
Only household items on the approved list will be accepted. Materials from businesses will not be allowed.
Confidential document shredding will be available during the event, with a limit of six banker boxes per vehicle.
Shredding will continue only until the truck reaches capacity.
