DEERFIELD, IL — Six hundred American flags will fill Jewett Park next month as Deerfield's Field of Honor returns with a tribute to veterans and an opportunity for residents to recognize someone who served.

The free display will run Nov. 9–13, spanning Veterans Day, with the theme "Honoring Our Veterans," according to the Village. Visitors are invited to walk among the flags, each representing a veteran or personal hero.

Residents can dedicate a flag in a veteran's name with a $35 donation. The flag will be displayed during the event and will be theirs to keep afterward, according to the Deerfield Park District.

Presented by the Village of Deerfield, the event is hosted by the Deerfield Police Department in partnership with the park district, public works department, Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department, Deerfield Public Library and local American Legion.

Community members can also donate any amount, become a sponsor or volunteer to help with setup, daily operations or teardown. Sponsorships are available at the $500, $1,000 and $1,500 levels.

The display will be at Jewett Park, near the community center at 836 Jewett Park Drive. Admission is free.

Visit the Field of Honor website to dedicate a flag, donate, view sponsorship opportunities or sign up to volunteer.
