DEERFIELD, IL — Deerfield's annual leaf collection program began Monday with a schedule change residents should check before bringing their leaves to the curb.
Some collection days have changed from previous years to prevent village leaf pickup and LRS collection from taking place at the same location on the same day, according to the village.
Public Works crews will make one pass by each home each week during the five-week program, which continues through Nov. 25. Residents can find their pickup day on the collection map included in the village's announcement.
The program provides an alternative for residents who do not mulch or bag their leaves. Leaves may be raked to the curb or carriage walk edge, but should not be placed there until the evening before the scheduled pickup.
The village asks residents to follow these guidelines:
Bad weather may delay collection, but crews will work to finish their scheduled routes as conditions allow.
After the program ends, remaining leaves may be placed in compost containers at any time or bagged for collection through Dec. 15.
Public Works crews collected more than 7,000 cubic yards of leaves throughout Deerfield last year, according to the village.
