DEERFIELD, IL — Contractors offering inexpensive or free inspections of private sewer lines and other home systems may follow those visits with recommendations for immediate, significant repairs, according to a Village of Deerfield notice.
The village said it has received reports of those offers and encouraged homeowners to research contractors and ask questions before approving any work.
Residents should obtain at least three written estimates, according to the notice. Comparing proposals can help homeowners understand the recommended scope of work, evaluate prices and choose an option that meets their needs.
The village also reminded residents that they should never feel pressured to make a same-day decision about an expensive home repair.
