Applications are now being accepted for the annual Trinity Academic Scholarship Competition, to be held on the Deerfield campus Jan. 27-28.

Applications are now being accepted for the annual Trinity Academic Scholarship Competition, to be held on the Deerfield campus Jan. 27-28.

Participants will compete for the Presidential or Kantzer Scholarships (covering tuition, room, board, and required fees), the Regents or Ruud Scholarships (full-tuition and required fees), the Dean’s scholarships ($20,000 per year), and the Faculty scholarships ($17,000 per year).

Students will be invited from among accepted applicants to Trinity for fall 2017 who have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (commonly known as FAFSA). Trinity’s FAFSA code is 001772. Note that FAFSA forms now can be submitted beginning Oct. 1 rather than the traditional Jan. 1 start date.

Students must submit their FAFSA forms no later than Jan. 23, which is also the deadline for accepting invitations to compete.

Trinity applicants who have been accepted into the University Honors Program are automatically eligible to participate in the Academic Scholarship Competition. Other students also may qualify if they have achieved a core grade point average of 3.75 or higher (A = 4.0) and standardized test scores of at least 28 on the ACT or 1240 on the SAT (critical reading and math).

After several social events on Jan. 27, the competitions on Jan. 28 will include time for personal interviews, group discussion and community building. Time will be reserved during the event for campus tours. An option to compete via Skype will be offered to students who cannot attend the Deerfield event.
