Award Season in Deerfield
Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association Honors Esteemed Community Members and Volunteers
The awards season isn’t reserved for just Hollywood heartthrobs and starlets.
In fact, it includes handing out hardware to those championing the Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association for our community, residents and participants.
Recently, DYBA/DYSBA honored three very deserving individuals.

Harry Steindler, the Harry Steindler Award's namesake, added this about Michael Danielewicz, "How great to have Dano join me and previous commissioners, Beth Sciarretta and Lew Bricker, as DYBA Volunteer Award honorees! Mike has been a leader for our young ball players in almost every possible way. His diligent, thoughtful work as commissioner and in so many other board positions has had such an important impact on the families of Deerfield. Congratulations Mike, and I’m so glad your DYBA work continues!"
And the winner himself humbly shared, “I am both honored and humbled at the same time receiving the 2019 Harry Steindler DYBA Volunteer Award! I thank Paul Chanan (DYBA Commissioner) and Dan McGrath (Immediate Past DYBA Commissioner) and my fellow DYBA Board members for honoring me as this year’s award winner. I am humbled to be honored with such great and wonderful DYBA leaders as Harry Steindler, Beth Sciarretta and Lew Bricker. All three have volunteered countless hours to our community through their work with DYBA and were selfless in their DYBA service. I can’t thank them enough for the leadership they provided to me, DYBA and our community! As with all our community members and their families the DYBA experience has been a part of their children’s lives for many years and that is no different for my family. Sara and I have enjoyed watching our son Lucas (baseball) and our daughters Allie (softball) and Tatum (softball) enjoy and grow up with their DYBA experiences! Thank you all again!”
Congratulations to all the well deserving honorees.
