Bannockburn Voters To Decide On New Real Estate Transfer Tax
If approved, the village could impose a new tax on each property to change hands.

BANNOCKBURN, IL — Bannockburn voters will decide in November if they want to give the village authority to impose a new tax on every property transaction. Trustees unanimously approved a plan to place a referendum on the November ballot granting the Village of Bannockburn authority to impose a real estate transfer tax of up to $1 per $1,000 of each sale price, to be paid by the buyer. Village officials said the requirement would help the village to inspect properties for leaks in their water systems when they change hands, The Deerfield Review reported.
