Blue Ribbon Again: Deerfield H.S. Wins Prestigious Award For 3rd Time
Deerfield is one of just 297 honorees of the prestigious designation in the entire nation in 2022.

DEERFIELD, IL — On the 30th anniversary of winning its first National Blue Ribbon Schools Award, Deerfield High School made the milestone even more special by doing it again for the third time. U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced Friday that Deerfield is one of the 297 honorees for the 2022 edition of the award.
Deerfield High School also won the award during the 1992-1993 and 2009-2010 school years.
"At Deerfield High School, we emphasize the importance of exceptionally rich instruction in the classroom and the value of engaging in or exploring a new passion through participation in extracurriculars such as clubs, activities, and athletics," Deerfield High School Principal Kathryn Anderson told Patch. "Our success is truly the result of our phenomenal school community that comes together to ensure our students will thrive in high school and beyond."

In an email to the Township High School District 113 community, Superintendent Bruce Law said Deerfield High School earned recognition as an Exemplary High-Performing School, which the U.S. Department of Education defines as "among a state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests."

"I applaud all the honorees for the 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award for creating vibrant, welcoming, and affirming school communities where students can learn, grow, reach their potential, and achieve their dreams," Cardona said in a news release honoring the schools.
