Coroner IDs Deerfield Man, 35, Killed In ATV Crash: UPDATE

The collision occurred at a Lake County Forest Preserve site near Buffalo Grove early Sunday.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL - A 35-year-old Deerfield man who suffered cardiac arrest and died following an ATV crash at a Lake County Forest Preserve site near Buffalo Grove has been identified as William McPherron, the Daily Herald reports. McPherron was found by emergency personnel on a path behind 301 N. Riverwalk Drive at about 12:55 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he later died.

Preliminary autopsy results show McPherron died from multiple traumatic injuries from the ATV crash, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said Tuesday. Toxicology results are pending.

Meanwhile, a female passenger on the ATV suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center following the crash early Sunday.

John Tannahill, director of public safety for the Lake County Forest Preserve District, told the Daily Herald ranger police are investigating what lead to the crash in Cahokia Woods, just north of Lake-Cook Road.
