Deerbrook Park Toastmasters Celebrates 35 Years of Service to the Community
Local Toastmasters Club celebrates 35 years of helping those who want to be more confident and skilled public speakers
Deerbrook Park Toastmasters, which meets at the Deerfield Public Library, just celebrated its 35th year of helping its members, all from the local community, to learn better public speaking and leadership skills. Over those 35 years, many ordinary people who thought that they could never conquer their fear of public speaking did so and went on to enjoy enhanced professional and personal successes as speakers and leaders. At Deerbrook Park Toastmasters, we’ve seen lots of “miracles”—people, who were once so afraid to speak before the group that they had to be helped up to the lectern, subsequently blossom into skilled and confident public speakers.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, the organization’s membership exceeds 345,000 in more than 15,900 clubs in 142 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people of all backgrounds build confidence as speakers and leaders. Toastmasters is the best way for anyone—whether a working professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree—to improve his or her communication and leadership skills. Members overcome the fear of public speaking and learn skills that aid them in becoming more successful. Toastmasters creates better listeners and stronger team members and leaders who can comfortably give and receive constructive evaluations. Toastmasters is affordable and effective, and it provides members with the program and support to grow as public speakers and leaders.
Joining Deerbrook Toastmasters is easy. But take it one step at a time and attend a club meeting or two as a guest and see what it’s all about. GUESTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Deerbrook Park Toastmasters meets at Deerfield Public Library twice a month at 6:45 pm-8:45 pm, usually on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday (subject to an occasional change because of a conflict with Library-sponsored programs). Visit the club’s website for an up-to-date schedule of meetings at http://deerbrookpark.toastmastersclubs.org/ or go to the Deerfield Public Library’s website event calendar.
