Deerfield Among Best Places To Open a Business in Illinois: Report

NerdWallet has Deerfield among the 10 best out of 285 in the state with populations of 5,000 or more.

According to a recent study by consumer finance site NerdWallet, Deerfield is the sixth best place to start a business in Illinois.

The study, which ranked 285 municipalities throughout the state - all with populations of more than 5,000 - found Deerfield as a better business option than other area locales such as Northfield (No. 9) and Northbrook (No. 14), but just worse than nearby Lincolnshire, which slotted third on the list only trailing Oak Brook and Itasca.

NerdWallet determined its rankings on “business climate” and “local economic health” factors.

Deerfield was found to have an average revenue per business of $5,016,809, with 17.06 businesses per 100 people and a 4.1 unemployment rate.

“About 25 miles north of Chicago, Deerfield is where Walgreens, Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA, the Baxter health care company and other large companies are headquartered. Deerfield businesses can access networking and growth opportunities through the DBR Chamber of Commerce, which also supports the communities of Bannockburn and Riverwoods. The average median income in Deerfield is the fourth highest of the top 10, at nearly $103,000.”
