Deerfield Blood Drive Draws a Crowd of Volunteers to Village Hall
Participation in annual donation event 'growing every year,' organizer says.

Deerfield Village Hall drew 50 volunteer blood donors on Friday as part of an annual event. Local police, fire and public safety employees were on hand to offer donations, as well as some local workers who were allowed to head home for the day after giving blood. Local Deerfield 109 School District publicized the event, according to Deerfield police communications director Mary Anne Glowacz.
"There's such a tremendous need, so we got it on the schedule for the holidays," she told Pioneer Press, "We've seen participation growing every year." For 30 years, Glowacz said, she has been personally giving blood.
