Deerfield Youth Wrestlers Set To Compete In State Tournament

DEERFIELD, IL — Two Deerfield students will represent the community at the Illinois Elementary School Association State Wrestling Tournament. Eli Thompson, a seventh-grade student at Caruso Middle School, and Rhys Aguinaldo, a fifth-grade student at Wilmot Elementary School, have qualified for the state competition.

Caruso School is organizing a "March of Champions Send-Off Parade" to celebrate their achievement. The parade is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Thursday. School officials are inviting classes to line the hallways to cheer on the student-athletes.

The IESA State Wrestling Tournament will take place at the Convocation Center at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Competition is set for Friday and Saturday.

Students and staff are encouraged to bring noisemakers, pom-poms, and signs for the send-off event. This parade offers an opportunity for the entire school to wish Thompson and Aguinaldo success at the state level. Officials expressed gratitude for the community's support in celebrating these student-athletes.
