Deerfield Family Theater To Present 'Beauty and the Beast'
The family-friendly show will be performed Nov. 10 through Nov. 19.

DEERFIELD, IL — Next month, the Deerfield Family Theater will finally perform a show that's been three years in the making. The community theater's fall production will be Disney's "Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical."
Originally planned for fall 2020, the theater company founded by the Deerfield Park District was forced to postpone the show due to the pandemic. Now, the show will be performed from Nov. 1o to Nov. 19 at the newly renovated Caruso Auditorium at Caruso Middle School, 1801 Montgomery Road. It will mark the first musical performed by DFT at the venue. Scheduled showtimes for "Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical" are:
- 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1o and Nov. 17
- 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 and Nov. 18
- 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19
According to the park district, the show is based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film. The stage adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" includes all the beloved songs from the movie soundtrack written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, along with new songs written just for the Broadway production. The park district said, "audiences will be transported to the charming French village and the mysterious castle where Belle and the Beast learn the lesson of looking beyond physical appearances to see the true beauty within."
