Deerfield Police Save Ducklings in Water Rescue
A Sergeant and Officer with the Deerfield Police Department made the rescue Sunday morning near South Commons.

A pair of Deerfield police officers made sure that no rescue is too small.
Sgt. Iain McCowan and Officer Steve Cetmarowicz worked together to save eight ducklings who had been trapped in a sewer drain near the 500 block of South Commons in Deerfield Sunday morning.

A police spokeswoman said that after responding to the call, the officers went inside the drain to retrieve four of the ducklings, then went back in to save the mother and four others.
“They were out of there within 30 minutes,” according to the spokeswoman, noting the call came in at 10:50 a.m. and the scene was cleared by 11:25 a.m.
