Deerfield Ranked Among Best Places to Start a Business in Illinois

Deerfield was recently ranked among the top 10 best places to start a business in Illinois, according to NerdWallet rankings.

Deerfield was ranked No. 6 on the NerdWallet list. Oak Brook was ranked at No. 1 while Itasca received a No. 2 ranking and nearby Lincolnshire at No. 3.

The study found the average revenue for a business in Deerfield was $5,016,809. NerdWallet also found that 32.10 percent of Deerfield businesses had paid employees and an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.

The average median income in Deerfield is the fourth highest of the top 10, at nearly $103,000.

In determining its rankings, NerdWallet used Census data that gauged the following key factors:

• Business climate: average revenue of businesses, percentage of businesses with paid employees and businesses per 100 people
• Local economic health: median annual income, median monthly housing costs and unemployment rate
