"The 10th district is home to many world-class industries and institutions that offer exceptional career opportunities," Schneider said. "Our first stop at Abbott Laboratories gave students a chance to see scientists working in the virology lab researching infectious diseases and hear how they are working to prevent the next pandemic."
Schneider's STEAM scholar program began in 2018 for students in the 10th congressional district. The program "aims to connect highly motivated students interested in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) careers with hands-on learning experiences throughout the district," officials said. In all, students will visit four STEAM-related businesses and facilities.
