Deerfield Teen Goes Viral With Bar Mitzvah Video

Instead of traditional invitations, Brody Criz made a parody video that's gone viral.

There have been some pretty unique ways kids have come up with to invite friends and family to their bar mitzvah, but then there’s Deerfield teen Brody Criz, who may have topped them all.

In a viral video that would likely get a nod from “Weird” Al Yankovic himself, Criz manages to parody several hit songs from the last couple of years with countless references to his upcoming bar mitzvah and why you should (or should not) accept the invitation.

All songs include hilarious references to being Jewish.

“Clap along if you feel the Old Testament is the truth,” he sing’s to Pharrell’s “Happy.” Dressed as Lorde, Criz sings about himself being “Spoiled” - a knock on Lorde’s 2013 hit, “Royals.” But all of that and more to only be outdone with a performance of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” in which he bares it all.

According to WGN Radio, ”his parents were on board with the idea and now the video has gone viral.”

Posted to YouTube recently, the video easily surpassed 100,000 views Thursday, reaching an impressive 135,477 hits by 9:07 p.m.

And people like it. Even with the usually tough and sometimes hostile YouTube crowd, Criz had managed to get 2,365 “thumbs ups” opposed to 352 “thumbs downs.”

Seriously, though. Who would thumbs down this?
