DEERFIELD, IL — Looking to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deerfield High School seniors Morgan Millstein and Carly Kohn had a plan. The duo started Candy4Corona, a nonprofit aimed at showing essential workers how much they are appreciated.

Millstein and Kohn collected money by selling boxes of candy to families, who put them outside of their homes for essential workers to take.

"We loved hearing the countless stories from our friends and family, who purchased candy boxes, regarding how excited and appreciative the frontline workers were," Kohn said. "We loved seeing how a simple gesture, such as a box of candy, impacted workers lives."

"We came up with this idea because we wanted to do something for essential workers that were working during this pandemic while also helping frontline workers at NorthShore Glenbrook Hospital who were helping COVID-19 patients," Kohn said. "We were blown away by the support our community offered us and worked very hard to keep up with all our orders."
