DHS Girls Swimming Team Completes Banner Year

The Warriors broke several individual and relay records and qualified for the state swim meet as a team.

DEERFIELD, IL - The Deerfield High School Girls Swimming team recently completed a banner season, accounting for several new school records and finishing among the top 40 at the state meet.

The Warriors finished 39th overall as a team at the state meet, where the team's 200 Medley Relay finished 16th overall.

Individually, Sydney Colburn came in 11th place in the 100 breaststroke and Ariela Katz was another top 20 state finisher, coming in 18th in the 100 butterfly.

Lily Kurzyldo (40th) and Nicole Piatek (45th) were among the individual competitors in the 50 free event.

Lindsay Guare was 11th in diving.

As a team, the Warriors varsity squad was 4-1 in conference dual meets during the season and the junior varsity was a perfect 5-0. The varsity squad won a conference championship and the junior varsity team finished in fourth place at sectionals.

New team records were set in the 200 medley relay team of Kurzyldo, Colburn, Katz and Piatek; the 200 free relay team of Kurzyldo, Jessica Barr, Katz and Piatek; Katz in the 100 butterfly and Colburn in the 100 breaststroke.

There were also several individual accolades handed out to DHS swimmers.

CSL Scholar athletes:

All- State:

Lindsay Guare - Diving, Sydney Colburn - 100 Breaststroke
