District 109 To Offer Full-Day Kindergarten

Superintendent praises Monday night's board decision.

The District 109 board of education agreed to provide an optional full-day kindergarten option beginning in the 2015-16 school years at its Monday night board meeting, according to an email send by Superintendent Dr. Michael Lubelfeld.

“This is the one decision that can make the greatest impact on improving student outcomes in District 109, and its impact will be evident for years to come,” Lubelfeld wrote, expressing agreement with Dr. Jeff Zoul, the assistant superintendent for teaching and learning who made a similar statement in January.

The full-day option will be a fee-based option, the superintendent points out. The tuition of $2,600 per child includes the District’s annual material and technology fee. The Board will review the fee each year to determine if our financial situation requires any change in the fee structure.
