Driver Was High on Drugs When He Fled From Crash Scene in Lincolnshire: Police

A 36-year-old south suburban man faces several charges after police found him in a grassy field Monday night.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL - Police in Lincolnshire say the man who caused a crash and ran from police Monday night on Milwaukee Avenue was high on drugs.

Peter P. Mleczko, 36, of south suburban Palos Hills, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing, driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after police found him hiding in a grassy field near the crash scene near Milwaukee and Olde Half Day Road, according to a CBS-Chicago report.

Mleczko is accused of fleeing from police in his vehicle after officers attempted to stop him while pulling out of a parking lot in the 400 block of Milwaukee into oncoming traffic. He then veered into the correct lanes and ran the red light at Olde Half Day Road before crashing into another car near Corporate Woods Parkway.

He ran on foot, but was dound in the grassy field about an hour and a half later by police.
