Duo Attempts To Enter Home With Ruse: Riverwoods PD Blotter

Two men told a homeowner they needed to check water lines due to a "construction accident" across the street, according to police.

RIVERWOODS, IL — The following information comes from the Riverwoods Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

  • Frank L. Johnson, 37, of the 1600 block of Birch Drive, Berkeley, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, driving while license revoked, and was arrested at 12:53 a.m. Jan. 15, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 22.
  • Eriberto Aleman-De Los Santos, 34, of the 100 block of N. Wolf Road, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding, endangering the lives of two children, and was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Jan. 6, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for aggravated battery to a peace officer. Aleman- De Los Santos was released on bond for the traffic violations and endangerment of children charges and was assigned a court date of Feb. 8. For the warrant charge, he was taken to Lake County Jail pending his transportation to a Cook County courthouse by the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

INCIDENTS

ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to an attempted ruse residential burglary at 2:29 p.m Jan. 13, in the 1200 block of Studio Lane. The homeowner reported that two men had rung the doorbell and said that they needed to check the water lines inside the residence due to a construction accident across the street at a house under construction. One subject briefly entered the residence, however when the homeowner became suspicious and called the police, the offenders fled from the area. Nothing was reported missing at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

At 12:45 p.m. Dec. 12, police responded to a business in the Colonial Court Shopping Center, 1100 block of Milwaukee Avenue, for a report of a catalytic converter stolen from a delivery vehicle sometime between Dec. 10 and Dec. 12.
