The North Shore Unitarian Church Choir and Instrumental Ensemble of Deerfield will present their annual Music Sunday on April 15 at the 9:15 and 11:15 services.
The special services emphasize the church’s commitment to the Arts as being integral and invaluable to the human spirit.
Music Director, Wayland Rogers, has chosen selections ranging from Russian Orthodox liturgical music by Rachmaninoff to Afro-American spirituals, gospel, opera and contemporary works. Featured in the service will be the Chicago-land premiere of Mr. Rogers’ “The Golden Rule,” written in an Afro-Cuban style with accompaniment of percussion, piano and bass. Participating instrumentalists include Hannah Andersen, harpist, Andrew Carpenter, saxophonist, Polly Hansen, flutist, John Diaz, percussionist and Gregg Rodriguez, bassist.
A free-will offering will be taken.
