Why Go: Pursuing a murderer who has escaped into Indian Territory, U.S. Marshal Rooster J. Cogburn teams up with a bounty-hunting Texas Ranger and Mattie Ross, a cantankerous young lady bent on avenging the murder of her father. Copies of True Grit are on the self-service hold shelves one month prior to discussion.

Why Go: These works of art featured in the exhibit include, Dick Tracy newspaper cartoons by Chester Gould, a George Lusk mural of early Wilmette, Christian Carsten's imaginative wood-carvings, and Marian Witt's whimsical lithographs. All are invited and light refreshments will be served.

Classical Performances at the Pickwick
Where/When: Thursday, April 10, 2:30 p.m. at Pickwick Theater 5 S. Prospect Ave, Park Ridge.
Why Go: The Park Ridge Civic Orchestra presents Baroque Bash with Victor Huls, cello. The event is part of its 2010-2011 season of classical music symphonic performances. Tickets may be purchased at the Park Ridge Community Center.
