Halloween Traffic Safety Campaign Continues In Lake County: Sheriff
The campaign encourages motorists to commit to sober driving, buckling up, and following traffic laws.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — With trick-or-treaters set to start ringing doorbells in a week, the Lake County Sheriff's Office is making sure local motorists are being extra safe. As part of its annual Halloween traffic safety campaign, police are encouraging motorist to commit to sober driving, buckling up and following traffic laws.
The campaign, which began on Saturday, runs through Nov. 1. It includes the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" initiatives. The campaign is funded by federal highway safety dollars, administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
According to LCSO, DUIs are not limited to alcohol-related offenses as "it is illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any other drugs or substances. Additionally, all vehicle occupants must wear their seat belts."
